These processes are a quick and relatively inexpensive way to produce aluminum and zinc castings. With typical cast roughness of Ra 16 and wall thickness of 0.080”to 0.120”, Specialized Castings, LTD is capable of casting as thin as 0.030” wall thickness.

Specialized Castings, LTD can create your match plate, cope & drag or core box tooling from a master or from supplied 3D data; if 3D data is supplied, we can also have the tooling cut from aluminum or steel billet. Most tooling can be configured with 1 pattern or with multiples depending on the pattern and the tooling size.
Cast tooling has common design tolerances of +/-0.010” between cope and drag and +/- 0.20” parallelism between the 2 halves. We can produce cast tooling with corner radii and fillets as required and standard draft angles of 1 to 2 degrees, with zero degree draft possible in some applications.

Specialized Castings, LTD offers permanent and semi-permanent molding. Both processes utilize steel molds of various alloys to mold the shape of the castings. Steel pulls are used to create passages, and when that is not possible, either air set or shell cores are used to create cavities or undercuts. Casting tolerances of +/-.010 can be obtained with a standard smooth clean finish. Permanent and semi-permanent moldings offer the best casting integrity of all of the processes at Specialized Castings.
